Epithalon: What is it?
Based on a natural peptide called Epithalamin removed from the pineal gland, the synthetic peptide Epitalon or Epithalon is composed of four amino acids: alanine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and glycine.
It was produced by Russian academic and gerontologist Vladimir Khavinson. His work centered on creating peptide preparations to restore function in different organs to prevent and reverse aging.
Epithalon (or Epitalon) is a peptide that increases telomerase activity and controls the cell cycle. This peptide contains the amino acids alanine, glutamate, asparagine, and glycine. Studies on animals have shown that Epithalon may prevent the development of cancerous tumors in the mammary glands and prevent carcinogenesis from happening in the first place. Epithalon has been demonstrated to work by reducing oncogene expression and altering telomerase activity.
Investigation of the Epithalon:
The use of Epithalon lengthens the lives of fruit flies, rats, and mice.
Fruit flies had their average lifetime increased by 11-16 percent after receiving the peptide while they were still larvae.
Maximal longevity was enhanced by 68 days, 95 days, and 24 days in research with rats subjected to equal quantities of light and darkness or constant light illumination compared to controls. Epitalon injections did not affect the average longevity of mice in the hypertension model, but they did extend the maximum lifespan by 12.3%.
Epithalon boosts Enzyme Activity.
Investigations have shown that as people become older, their pancreatic enzyme production naturally declines.
In both young and elderly rats, Epitalon boosted the activity of enzymes that digest protein and sugar, with the effect more significant in the older rats. Another research demonstrated that the peptide boosted enzyme activity in the small intestine of older rats.
The Cancer-Fighting Power of Epithalon
Epithalon has been found in several rodent experiments to reduce tumor growth and cause cancer cell death significantly. Scientists found that administering Epitalon to rats with colon cancer delayed the progression of the disease via increasing lymph flow (which contains white blood cells) and apoptosis (programmed cell death).
Epitalon dramatically lowered the number of animals with multiple tumors in mice with mammary cancers and decreased the maximum size of tumors compared to control mice.
The researchers also discovered that the peptide lowered the expression of particular genes that, when over-expressed, play a vital role in the evolution of breast cancer in mice.
Epitalon, for example, has been shown to lower the incidence of malignant tumors in mice and prevent metastasis (the spread of cancer to other parts of the body) in all treated rats in independent research. In contrast, 3 of the 9 untreated mice developed metastases after receiving Epitalon.
Epithalon has shown promise in treating retinitis pigmentosa and enhancing eye health.
Rods in the retina degenerate in people with retinitis pigmentosa, a hereditary degenerative eye condition. Rods, along with cones, are photoreceptors in the eye that send messages to the brain through chemical reactions. Epitalon enhances retinal cell activity by protecting their structure and halting their degeneration in rats.
In a clinical trial, improved degenerative damage to the retina (due to retinitis pigmentosa) in 90% of the patients.
