How to Stay Healthy  During Winters?

Winter is an enjoyable season. You attend parties, new year festivities, gatherings with friends in a warm cozy environment, with stunning hoodies and coats. 

When the temperature is warm, people tend to stay away from each other. But in winter, to maintain the temperature, people stay in a closed environment with each other. Therefore the chances of infection transmission rise. Moreover, the risk of flu and cold also increases many folds.

Many people get affected by respiratory tract infections during winter. Since respiratory tract infections are contagious, you need to take extra care of yourself and your loved ones to remain protected.

Eat Warm Foods

During summer, you eat cool foods such as cucumber, watermelon, and salads. But in winters, you should eat warm foods that can help you keep warm and cozy. Warm foods can be dry fruits such as peanuts, cashew nuts, almonds, and other foods such as clove, dates, turmeric, and mushrooms. 

Right Clothing 

Wearing the right clothing in winter is essential. Many people do not pay enough attention to it. People who have allergies, asthma, or children and elderly, need more attention about clothing in winters.

 If you do not keep yourself warm, you may end up getting pneumonia. Therefore make sure that you cover yourself properly according to the weather. Wear a cap, a muffler, gloves, coat, jacket, and socks. 

You can also double up your clothing, such as wearing two shirts or two pajamas to protect yourself from an immense cold. Of course, you need to decide on a day-to-day basis. But make sure that you make a wise one. 

Get Eight Hours of Sleep 

 

Winter or summer, you must get an ample amount of sleep. When you sleep, your body relaxes and repairs itself. Therefore it is essential to get enough sleep. Try to sleep for at least eight hours a day. If you do not sleep well, your immunity lowers down. Therefore the chances of the infection get raised.

Drink Plenty of Water

 

In summer, we tend to drink too much water because of thirst. But in winter, we do not drink enough water. Since the weather is dry in winter, you should drink plenty of water. To stay healthy, you must drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water in a day. 

 

When you drink plenty of water, your skin also remains hydrated, as it becomes too dry in winters. 

Exercise Regularly 

 

In summers, we tend to walk outside, go from one place to another on two feet. But in winters, because of extreme cold, we tend to avoid going out. But you should not be sedentary in winter. You can do physical activity indoors. Moreover, you must make a habit of daily workout indoors. 

Wash Your Hands 

Make a habit of washing your hands frequently. Do that, especially when you come home from outside and after using the toilet. 

Wear a Mask 

 

Respiratory tract infections are contagious. They can be transmitted through respiratory droplets. Therefore if you visit someone having a respiratory tract infection, you should wash your hands and wear a mask.

Winter is a beautiful time that gives you too much to enjoy. But along with enjoyment, you need to take a little extra care of yourself and your loved ones.
